I bought an '05 LS with the sport suspension package last week 75k miles. It has the 18" chrome factory wheels and Michelin 245/45 R18s. The ride isn't ridged and stiff like I was expecting, it's quite smooth and rides like a luxury car but corners and lane changes like crazy.

I gave my 96 LS to my brother and kept my 98 LS.

The handling on the 05 is so great that when I drive the 98 I now want that same feel. The cornering on the 98 feels like a boat now.

My question is where to start determining which spring's I can put on the 98 and recreate the amazing handling of the 05. And any other suspension parts that could help.
Like sway bar thickness.

I'm no stranger to replacing suspension parts, I replaced every single part on the front of the 96LS.

Hi, so I put a set of the dark grey 19" RX F-sport wheels on my wife's 2nd gen but they did not come with center caps. The stock center caps from the 400h don't fit so I was wondering if someone had a picture and part number for the correct center caps. I'm not even sure what they're supposed to look like.

When I press the button on the trunk lid it releases the latch but the trunk only come up about 1". Shouldnt it pop up and open like my Lincoln?

I have a 2008 LS460 with 99k miles. While driving, all of a sudden, a "Brake Malfunction" warning appears on the dash followed by Check VSC and ABS System - then a message saying " Stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately - Contact a dealer" I let the car sit for 3 hours, followed by the same messages. I had the brake actuator replaced under warranty with 26k miles. Any suggestions on what might be needed? I hate to go into this process with the dealer, as it seems they may have an expensive answer.

rough idle on my 92 sc300 with 230k on it. after maybe 30 sec of running the idle drops and bounces back up continually (from around 500 to 750 then back) and shakes the car (reminds me of a cammed v8) there are no check engine lights, the o/d light flashes but i read that its from a speed sensor on the trans so i don't think that's the issue
things done:
ecu repair
12v mod
new plugs
wire set
cap and rotor
cleaned throttle body
new fpr
cleaned iacv
pcv valve
need help so i can smog it

so for the past 4 months I've been having intermittent starting problems with my 93 sc400. I'll go to start it sometimes and it just won't fire up, no problem cranking. I can usually wait a day or so and it will fire up like nothing was ever wrong with it. Since last week I have had zero luck getting it to start at all now. Same
thing cranking fine.

Here's everything I've done so far to see if I can fix the problem:

replaced fuel pump and fuel pump ecu
replaced both camshaft position sensors
replaced crankshaft position sensor

i know for sure it's getting fuel. Pulled the plug to test for spark and it is not getting any spark. Tested igniters and they are fine

it is currently giving me Obd codes 12 and 24.

When i I changed the crank sensor, the old one had a bit of oil on it and the plug (from seeping oil pan), not sure if it was enough to cause any sort of shorting issue.

Check engine light comes on when ignition is switched to on, so the ECU is not totally dead.

My my only thoughts at this point is Maybe a bad ignition relay, bad crank sensor wire issue, or maybe bad ecu. Bad ecu would make most sense to me, since it has been intermittently not working for a few months now, typically from a cold start, but nothing points to it for sure.

Anyone have any ideas?

Water Pump weeping

While we are on the topic of powertrain warranty, I had the left rear axle seal replaced under warranty because it was leaking (seems like I am the only one that had that problem though). If anyone does need to get an axle seal replaced, know that the axle seal itself is not covered under powertrain warranty, but the dealer was able to blame the wheel bearing and cover it under warranty that way (thank you Lexus of Tulsa!).

What else do you think needs to be checked before the powertrain warranty expires?

Driving along today running the air conditioning when it just stopped working. The radio also is not working. The clock still comes up, but that is it. Any idea what happened?

Im currently in the process of upgrading my brakes im running on factory 16" wheels and was wondering which spacer ill need to run to clear the calipers. I've seen people say 5mm hub centric will clear then I hear it won't go with 15mm hub centric... pleae help lol I've gotten just about everything needed to do the swap. Thanks!

Apparently in a previous life my car encountered something that ripped the rubber splash guards [inside the left fender well]. It's the rubber flexible parts between the fender well and body. Does anyone know the part numbers or sourcing? Must have been a branch or something because the one in front of the A-Frame and in back are destroyed. Any help is appreciated.

I'm looking to purchase a higher mileage luxury/near-luxury sedan for an upcoming long commute. Currently, I'm concentrating on higher mileage 2013 ES sedans or a 13/14 Avalon. Ideally, I'd like a quiet, smooth commute with relatively good gas mileage (6 cylinder only). I need a larger sedan to accommodate my family of 5 occasionally. Can anyone comment on Lexus ES vs Toyota Avalon. Further, I've found a local 2013 ES with 92K (interestingly, the 2nd owner only drove the ES for 3 months per Carfax - red flag?) - any opinion on this ES? Thanks for everyone's help.

I'm having a tough decision if I should just purchase a F-Sport 2017 now or wait for the new 2018 just months away. These points say wait for 2018 but maybe you can chime in if I'm missing something you can think of? Would you guys lean towards 17s or 18s? I want to have a RX by December at latest with another baby on the way.

Some pros I see for each:

2017:

1. Use now (enjoy it right away)
2. Great discounts (looking at 6-7k off 59-60k MSRP)
3. Lower base cost (usually goes up a little every year)

2018:

1. Newer year
2. Maybe no drone/vibration issues?
3. Possible 0.9% with December to Remember?
4. Possible better incentives?
5. Higher resale
6. Third row?

I had a couple SC's before and loved the Lexus brand so when I stumbled on a minty '98 GS300 locally, I grabbed it. It's got about 180k and everything seems to work. The only things I can be picky about are the front brake rotors vibrating a bit and the hood struts are blown, very simple fixes. I've been searching around for common problems/known issues but didn't come up with anything specific. Besides the ball joint issue, is there anything else I should be checking?

As for plans, I'm keeping things fairly modest for now. Probably just tint, better speakers, TTE lip, some version of a newer style Lexus GS wheel and maybe a super slight drop, probably springs. I have some research to do but otherwise all in all, I'm stoked. Here's a couple shots from the first fill up, I'll get more as time goes on.

Hello,

I went through the Mother Thread for sound and saw that a lot of the stuff is dated.

1 - I have the standard sound system.
2 - I would like to relocate the temperature controls in order to put the double din higher.
3 - My budget is $1000
4 - I don't need NAV
5 - Not looking for competition sound
6 - I live in NJ

What I need:
1 - A recommendation of a Double Din head that is capable of having a backup camera, USB inputs, iPod/Android Integration, and bluetooth.
2 - All necessary brackets and adapters
3 - Recommendations on switching out all the speakers including the sub. Not looking for competition sound. Just want something clear, with a decent bass response.
4 - I just want to swap out the sub. Not looking to add a cabinet.
5 - I have a Kenwood 600watt 4 channel amp that could be used for this install.

Please provide links to what people are doing currently. I hope the community can help me out! I can't stand the sound of these blown out speakers! lol

I couldnt find a specific forum for this question. But because I usually hang out here I think of some of you as friends and wont come down on me too hard.

Two weeks ago my wife was told by the Dr that she could no longer drive because of Macular degeneration Today he told me that in five years I also would have to stop driving. I am going to begin selling all of my 14 cars.

But that is not the main problem. We live alone, just the two of us. What will we do to continue? How can we shop, travel, visit friends, go to Church? We will be cut off from society.. We cant afford a live in Chauffeur. Its a small town with NO public transportation but even that would not allow us to travel, even locally. With a county full of small towns even a cab would not be feasible.

Are any of you facing this problem? Any suggestions? Maybe a Tesla?
