Stopped in at RR Racing last week for a bit of work on the RC

Ok...so nothing groundbreaking here, but as a customer and forum member thought it my obligation to share my feedback.

My daughter and I stopped in at RR racing outside of Philadelphia for the day, for a new Borla install with carbon tips, the RR ECU tune, CF intake tube and an oil catch can.

I was in the shop by 10:30 and out by 3pm. (had a 5 hour drive each way). Met the owners, met the staff. Shop was clean. Everyone was professional and polite. Prices are good. Labor price is great!

End result (besides 10 solid hours of driving) is a happy customer! I highly recommend this company if you are in the region and want them to work on your car.

Car sounds great. Throaty. Aggressive. REALLY mean when you open it up. Definitely happy with it.

Thanks guys! I will be back for headers next year!

HELP! Please! Brake and Steering Wheel Shake

I had crazy steering wheel vibration on my 2011 ES350 and my mechanic recommended I do rotors and pads all round. I did so about a month and a half ago and the ride has been much much better, but I think the vibration is coming back slowly and I've always had what feels like a wheel balance shake at about 100 KPH (60 MPH). I got a 2nd set of factory rims with new tires about a week ago and what I thought was a wheel balance issue is still there. On a whim I went out and bought a clamp dial indicator to check things out. Because I feel a bit of brake pulse in the pedal and my seat and the vibration at speed seems to be coming from the rear, I pulled my rear wheels and checked the lateral runout.

Driver's side
Hub 0.003"
Rotor (an inch from the edge) 0.007"

Passenger side
Hub 0.022"
Rotor 0.034"

:egads:

I wasn't able to check the fronts. Will have to do that another time when I have jack stands.

So, anyone have or no where I can find the brake or hub runout specs for our cars? I suspect that the passenger side is way out and is the cause of both my high speed shake and perhaps the cause or partial cause of my brake vibration (which I think will only get worse with time).

Any thoughts? Suggestions? I'm thinking I'll need to replace the rear hubs, verify that runout is in spec, replace the rear rotors and pads (under warranty) and I should be golden if all is within spec.

Greetings 3G Family!

i have a question about wiring...I recently bought this car online and had it shipped from NJ and to my surprise the backup camera was stolen! I bought an OEM camera off eBay for $100 and it arrived today, but whoever stole the camera cut the male plug off as well, if I were to solder the wires back together, which colors go to which???

Male plug side is black, white, red and orange.

And the female side it red, yellow, black with white letters and black (see photo).

any help would be appreciated...thanks in advance!

this the final repair I plan doing this year, as I've already had to replace all 4 rotors and brakes, also new floor mats, air filters, and replaced the damaged stock wheels with OEM 2013 GS F sport chrome wheels and tires...long story short, buying the car I've always wanted online will never happen again LOL!

Do you like Pizza? Studies show it might be addicting.

If you are like me, you will agree that few other things can deal with hunger like an (mmm) hot, freshly-baked pizza, though, for health reasons, I myself limit the amount of high-fat mozzarella/provolone cheese on my pizzas, use grated low-fat Parmesan cheese for added flavor, add Italian seasonings like Oregano/Basil, and stick to chicken, tomato, black olive, and/or spinach toppings (I dislike strong-smelling onions/garlic, and avoid beef and pork toppings like the plague). Now, research is telling us what many of us probably already know....pizza can be addicting. That may explain its enormous popularity, having taken over from hamburgers as the most widely-eaten food in the U.S.....though pork BBQ may (?) still be King in some of the Southern states.

http://www.iflscience.com/health-and...hly-addictive/

Although you probably won’t be out on the streets hustling for a stuffed crust pepperoni, a recent study has found that pizza has some very addictive properties.

The University of Michigan study, published in the US National Library of Medicine, examined which foods caused people to display addictive tendencies. Using a sample of 504 students, the study found that pizza came out on top (perhaps unsurprisingly).

Nearly unanimously, the list of foods that caused “addictive-like eating” were all highly processed items such as pizza, chocolate, cake and French fries. Processed foods tend to contain a high “dose” of fats and carbohydrates while also being more quickly absorbed by the body. Much like the effect of addictive drugs on our neural circuitry, these two factors cause the reward-related areas of our brain to go into hyperdrive. According to the study, the highly processed foods loaded with sugars and fats can cause changes in the dopamine system – involved in reward and pleasure – akin to drug abuse.

In their paper, the authors write: “Addictive substances are rarely in their natural state, but have been altered or processed in a manner that increases their abuse potential. For example, grapes are processed into wine and poppies are refined into opium. A similar process may be occurring within our food supply.”

They also pointed to another study that showed that “rats maintained on a diet of highly processed foods, such as cheesecake, exhibit downregulation in the dopamine system that also occurs in response to drugs of abuse.”

The other reason why pizza seems to be so addictive might be even simpler: cheese.

The crave-inducing properties of cheese come from an ingredient called casein, a protein found in all milk products. When we digest this protein, it releases casomorphins which stimulate opioid receptors, the receptors involved in pain control, reward and addiction.

So, while this might not make you feel better when you covered in crust crumbs embarking on a pizza comedown, at least you know the science behind your addiction.

New owner of this gold 1998 GS300. The first thing I am looking to get for it is actually a gold OEM wing when I find one.

So far I am loving it, coming from a 1999 Miata this is quite the executive ride.

85 mph Handling

I recently purchased a 2002 SC430 with 51K miles. Run flats have been removed, and I have inspected both front and rear suspension for wear or damage.
The problem is that at higher speeds the car feels unstable when cornering. It feels as if the suspension loads up and then releases over and over again. I have searched this site extensively and inspected everything mentioned at least twice. I'm really at a loss to explain this behavior. The lower control arms #2 are in good shape, as are the upper and lower control arms and ball joints.
Any additional help would be appreciated, Thankyou all in advance for any help you can provide!

USDM Headlight Replacement Advice Wanted

$

I had the unlucky chance of hitting a pidgeon with my right headlight at highway speeds. The housing, or plastic covering on the exterior is broken, and replacement is the only option I have. There doesn't seem to be any paint damage, which indicates only the headlamp assembly is the only piece that requires replacement. The part number that I looked up and specifically need is 81145-53751, I got that information from:
https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...MtNWwtdjYtZ2Fz

I'm not trying to spend $1000 to get a new set of headlights, but if that's the best option I will.

I ran across these while searching for not full retail options:
http://www.sixityauto.com/tyc-20-952...145-53751.html
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-2015-20...6/263072324641
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-2015-20...-/152603757506

The Ebay route is my preferred route, but I don't want to drop 300~ just to spend another 600~ to rectify me buying a bad headlamp, whereas I could have just ordered it through the dealer for full price.
My biggest concern is if the two mentioned Ebay ones are missing any important tabs or mounting things. Do you guys think any of those Ebay options are a solid choice? Thanks in advance!

This is T4styPh0's car.
I wanted to see if someone could make the top portion of the lip carbon fiber. (essentially the lower portion would stay painted, the top would be exposed CF).
The second photo enclosed is to circle what I want to see in CF. Leave the rest painted :)
Thanks a lot to whoever takes this endeavor :D

2017 Ultra White Paint Issues

$

I've had my 2017 Ultra White IS350 since early-December 2016. Right now I'm right around 5k miles. No mechanical issues, no other problems aside from a couple of nails in a tire that was replaced back in March. Considering that, it is more than a little surprising that the clear coat is peeling off my front bumper. There is no scratch, dent, scrape, etc. that I can see that could have started the peel and after driving at highway speeds for one day, it had increased from dime size to about 2" in diameter. I called my service advisor on Monday and didn't hear back until yesterday, at which point she told me she had entered a service appointment I could drop it off anytime and let them check it out. When I got there, she was tied up with another customer and another service advisor checked me in. I've never had an issue with the dealership in the few times I've had to go in for service. They go above and beyond to make sure customers are satisfied. I wasn't really prepared when the advisor checking me in accused me of having had low-quality paint work done that led to the clear coat peeling. I pretty quickly corrected him and said the car had no accidents or paint work - that it was essentially still new to me - and my concern is why a seemingly new car is having this issue. He pretty much doubled down on the fact that I had done something wrong and said that Ultra White specifically has something different about the way it is applied that makes it even less likely to peel than other "standard" Lexus colors (I've actually heard this about some Toyota colors, so someone step in and confirm or deny if they know this about UW).

I searched the forum and couldn't find any other posts about clear coat issues on new cars or specifically Ultra White. Anyone had anything similar happen? As of now, I'm not really worried about the service department taking care of the issue - even a little push back and they magically find a way to cover the repair. I just don't want one spot to be fixed to later have others pop up.

I apologize for no photo - I forgot to snap a one before I dropped it off.

Engine clicking at startup

Hello All!

Well, my father's 2010 RX350 has developed a cold "clicking/rattling" noise at start up. It lasts for about 1-2 seconds. It reminds of when my brother 2008 RAV4 did this. The RAV was under warranty and Toyota did a TSB on it. That engine was a 4 cylinder. Cost: $0. Same can't be said on the RX. It has about 60K miles. I'm reluctant to take it to Lexus (of LV). I want to say the engine has a 100K warranty, but I'd have to call them to make sure. In any event, does/did anyone have the same issue?

Not my video, but noise is the same:

Found this and wasn't amused: Good read actually.

Thanks for any response and insight to this.

Trying to gauge interest in having Bilstein build B8 for ISF also RCF&GSF

$

Hey guys, I'm ISF owner after reading recent tread about B6 and lack of B8 for our application. I decide to reach out to Bilstein to see what needed to be done to try and get B8 made for us. I'm not going to go over the merits of coilovers vs. Lowering springs this has been discussed in several threads already no need to rehash it now.
Unfortunately there aren't any real choices out there for any of us the only true quality shock that's been designed to be lowered is Bilstein B8 shock. Unfortunately they don't make them for any of our cars they only make the B6 which is still equality shock but it has not been designed specifically to be lowered such as the B8.

This is what needs to been done in order for Bilstein to create the B8 for all of our cars it would require someone bringing their ISF, RCF & GSF to Bilstein in Southern California, and following these steps on their webpage. Go to the Bilstein webpage on the top left-hand side you will see an area that will say (Bye Bilstein) select that once the second page opens go down to the left bottom portion of the page where you will see (Ride Testing Submission)you still like that on that page it will explain exactly what will occur at the bottom of that page you would then select (Ride Testing Form) fill out the information such as personal data car type what we're looking for B8 with factory and swift spring set up. So anyone who has Swift's lowering springs as well as your stock Springs that would definitely help.

If selected for testing by Bilstein the following would occur-
Installation confirmation and tuning of dynamic characteristics (damping/valving).

Vehicle usage would encompass approximately 200 miles of on-road evaluation within a week’s period of time.Vehicle owner is required to deliver vehicle to the Bilstein Aftermarket headquarters in Poway, CA, and make arrangements for alternative transportation during the time of product installation and tuning.

In exchange for use of subject vehicle, vehicle owner will receive, at no charge, one set of shock absorbers (front & rear) installed on his/her vehicle, four wheel alignment and a full tank of fuel. thyssenkrupp Bilstein offers a full “Garage Keeper’s Endorsement” providing vehicle owner insurance.
I'm to get as much exposure as possible not just ISF community but the RCF and GSF communities as well. The bigger the demand the more likelihood that they would be willing to create a B8 for all three vehicles. So to anyone out in Southern California and would be willing to do this. Let me know guys I think we can pull this off we just need to show Bilstein there's a big enough demand for it.
Thanks
David

Posted this in the 4RX, but I feel this warrants its own thread and visibility here as I'd like to here from you car nuts like myself! :D

For those who haven't found my thread where I revealed the repair cost, any guesses on the repair cost of DarthRX's cosmetic damage that extends to the bumper, fender, and hood? No structural damage nor airbags deployed and neither my wife nor the other driver got hurt

Ceramic Pro 9H on Lexus GS

Hello Guys!

Has anyone ever applied Ceramic Pro to your GS? Locally it cost an eye to apply that to your paint, but, I found a great deal on amazon for only 60 bucks! and doesn't seem that hard to apply. Just wondering if anyone have tried it, how good does it work?

Ceramic Pro is pretty much a paint sealer, its like having your car waxed for like 5 years.

Here is the deal I found:

Comments are welcome!

And here is what Ceramic Pro is:

Park assist sensor pushed in

While cleaning the car, I accidentally pushed one of the sensors in and now i have that annoying sound when the parking assist is on. It was very weird because I barely applied any force and the sensor just went in. I'm talking about the front left sensor on a 2013 GS F Sport. Any way i can snap it back into place without removing the front bumper? I tried looking to push it back in from above by removing the plastic cover in front of the radiator. I would prefer to do it myself instead of going to the dealer and spending a bunch of money. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
